Take A Fresh Look At Your Superannuation Fund

Monday January 5, 2009

While it may only be half-way through the financial year, taking a regular look at your personal superannuation performance can be helpful. If you have a self managed superannuation fund in particular or similar types of superannuation funds that offer a great deal of control, you may wish to analyse whether this is working well for you.

Superannuation calculators can be extremely useful in determining superannuation saving goals as well as working out whether you are on track to a comfortable retirement or if you will need to take action to get there. You will need to be aware of the variables being used by the superannuation calculator, however, and know what they mean. Pay attention to the rates of inflation that the superannuation calculator assumes, as this will determine the real amount of money you will need in the future in order to afford retirement. If inflation remains high for a considerable length of time, you may need to adjust your calculations.
