More control over your superannuation fund

Monday August 4, 2008

Superannuation fund control can be limited when using a corporate superannuation fund or an industry superannuation fund. Often, the only control users of these types of superannuation funds can expect is to be able to choose how much money they put in it, and possibly the investment styles they would like for portions of their money. For instance, half of the money in your superannuation fund could be invested in a way designed for medium risks for a chance of medium payoffs, while a quarter could be invested for minimal risk for a chance of minimal payoffs and the other quarter for high risks with a chance at higher payoffs.

Some people prefer to have more control over their superannuation fund, instead deciding to use tools like ESUPERFUND to set up a self managed superannuation fund. There can be certain benefits to starting a self managed superannuation fund, but it requires more work if it is to have an advantage over other types of superannuation funds.
